December 15, 2018 Injury Lawyer San Diego 0

A marine was struck when he stopped to help a disabled motorist on Interstate 805 (I-805) in the Chollas View area on December 13, 2011, around 2 a.m. According to the California Highway Patrol, the Marine and two others stopped on the southbound connector to eastbound SR-94 when he was hit.

The Marine was struck by a minivan driven by a woman, who was subsequently arrested on suspicion of drunken driving. Paramedics took the Good Samaritan to UCSD Medical Center to receive treatment for the injuries suffered.

From the present information, it is quite clear that the reckless driving and irresponsible actions of the motorist led to this serious car wreck that left a Good Samaritan seriously injured. If the motorist is determined to have been at fault in this case, then she could not only face criminal DUI charges but could also be held responsible for the injuries suffered and the damages caused. To drive a vehicle under the influence of alcohol is a direct violation of California traffic laws.

The injured victim’s family members should immediately seek counsel from an experienced San Diego County DUI auto accident lawyer who would help them obtain timely compensation to cover treatment, medical and hospital costs, loss of wages, loss of earning capacity, and other accident-related damages.

Our San Diego personal injury law office hopes that the injuries suffered by the Marine do not prove fatal.

12-year-old Zachariah Houck was killed in a serious bike crash that occurred on August 14, 2011, around 6:41 p.m. at Joshua and Mesquite Street. According to California Highway Patrol Officers, Houck was riding south on Joshua Road when he failed to stop for a stop sign and was struck by a 2000 Lincoln Navigator driven by 51-year-old George Peery.

The boy suffered life-threatening injuries and was pronounced dead at the accident scene. From the available information, Peery attempted to avoid the boy but could not stop.

There are some unanswered questions about the circumstances of the event. How fast was the driver of the Lincoln traveling? Was there a traffic violation? Did any other factor contributed to this tragic bicycle accident? We trust that the investigating officers are looking into all these factors to determine the exact cause of this bicycle accident.

The bicyclist’s parents should seek counsel from an experienced San Bernardino County bicycle accident lawyer who would analyze all the crucial aspects and assure that the at-fault party is held liable.

Our law office offers sincere condolences to all those who knew and loved Houck for such a tragic loss.

Quick Safety Tips to Avoid San Diego Motorcycle Accidents

The best way to avoid a San Diego motorcycle accident is simple: Motorcyclists need to make sure that they are visible to car and truck drivers.

There are several easy ways to do that. They are:

  1. First of all, remember that San Diego drivers tend to have a difficult time spotting motorcyclists and reacting in time. Therefore, making sure that your headlight works and is on day and nights is imperative to staying visible.
  2. In order to be even more visible, increase the reflection of light and use reflective decal strips on your clothing and motorcycle.
  3. Make sure to be aware of blind spots that cars and trucks have and try not to stay in those blind spots for a long period of time.
  4. When braking, flash your brake lights a few times to catch a driver’s attention and make it a point to let them know that you are slowing down.
  5. Last but not least, if a San Diego driver does not see you, don’t be afraid to use your horn.

All of these safety precautions are easy to reach and will keep you much safer on our San Diego roads. For more useful information for motorcyclists, visit the Motorcycle Safety Foundation’s library.
