Motorcycle Accident on Interstate 15 Leaves San Diego Biker Injured

A motorcycle accident on Interstate 15 just south of the Scripps Poway Parkway in San Diego left the motorcyclist injured and slowed traffic for several hours, according to a recent news report from CBS 8.

The accident occurred when the motorcycle’s front wheel failed, causing it to swerve and strike the median. The motorcyclist was thrown from the bike during the crash. Rescue workers took him to a local hospital, which has not released a report on his injuries. Investigators are still trying to determine what caused the accident.

A 46-year old unidentified motorcyclist was killed in a fatal Riverside County motorcycle accident that occurred on September 27, 2010. According to the Moreno Valley Police, the victim was found lying seriously injured at the bottom of a ravine in Moreno Valley near Ironwood Avenue, approximately 90 miles north of San Diego.

An off-duty California Highway Patrol officer saw an injured man lying at the foot of a 20-foot embankment. The injured victim was then immediately rushed to Riverside County Regional Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries. Police do not know when and how this traffic accident occurred.

Fred Fraijo, 49, a Northview High School softball assistant, was killed in a San Gabriel Valley motorcycle accident on the 10 Freeway (Interstate 10, I-10) in San Dimas in east Los Angeles County, approximately 120 miles north of San Diego. The accident occurred around 7 p.m. on Sunday when the driver of a GMC Yukon ran a red light on westbound 76 as they drove toward the onramp, which then caused the motorcycle coming towards them to broadside the SUV. The passenger on the motorcycle was a 20-year-old Escondido woman who was ejected and crashed through one of the Yukon’s windows and ultimately landing inside of the SUV. The driver of the motorcycle, known only as a man from Escondido, crashed into the SUV and landed on the road. Both riders from the motorcycle had to be flown to a San Diego trauma center with non-life threatening injuries

San Diego Motorcyclist Killed in Accident Identified

A Wednesday evening motorcycle crash in San Diego County’s El Cajon last week had left one man dead who had been traveling on his motorcycle. The rider was recently identified by the San Diego Union-Tribune as 37-year-old Lance Michael Hagerty. Hagerty had been killed when his motorcycle rear-ended a pickup truck as it was attempting to turn into a driveway about 5 p.m. in El Cajon on West Bradley Avenue near Wing Avenue, according to the county Medical Examiner’s Officer. Hagerty had lived and worked in El Cajon.

Hagerty was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision and was riding a newer-model sports bike, according to El Cajon police. He was taken to a hospital after the wreck, where he died. The westbound traffic on Bradley Avenue had been diverted for about five hours as investigators examiner the scene, police said. The driver of the pickup truck had not been hurt.

San Diego Bike Shop Employee Seriously Injured in Julian Motorcycle Accident

Yesterday evening, our employee took his bicycle to a San Diego bike shop on Adams Avenue to get it tuned up and ready for the upcoming summer.

Here is the story he told us this morning:

One of the bike shop employees at the store was wearing a black, leather, motorcycle jacket. He came up to us, greeted us, and proceeded to help me with my bike. I noticed that he was not moving his right arm very much as my friend was looking at bicycle helmets. A yellow bicycle helmet caught her attention and she decided to try it on. Once she was content with the color scheme and shape of the helmet, she asked the employee if this particular helmet was good for recreational bicycle riding. He took the helmet from her with his left arm, examined it, and agreed it would be a great recreational bicycle helmet.

The employee continued on to say that it would work great if she were to ever get into a crash, but that it would only work for one crash and that’s it. She would have to replace if she ever did crash. The employee said that comment as if he expected her to crash, which caught us a bit off guard. He continued on to the story about his arm and said that a helmet had just saved his life the previous week.

Los Angeles Motorcycle Accident Kills Stuntwoman

A 28-year old Hollywood stuntwoman lost her life in a fatal Los Angeles motorcycle accident that happened on April 6, 2010, on the Ventura Freeway in Studio City.

The deceased, April E. Stirton of North Hollywood, was on the 101 Freeway going over 55 miles per hour when she lost the balance of her Yamaha Roadstar and fell down. The Roadster jammed under a big rig and she was hit by the rear wheels of a tow truck. According to the California Highway Patrol, Stirton was drag for nearly 10 miles before the truck driver realized what had happened. Stirton has worked on shows like CSI and True Blood.
