San Diego Car Theft and Carjacking Near Imperial Avenue

A San Diego man lost his SUV, phone, and wallet to an armed carjacker in the early morning hours in south San Diego on Sunday morning.

The driver was heading home around 5 a.m. when a man with a gun confronted him while he was at a stop sign near Imperial Avenue and 54th Street in Emerald Hills, according to police. The gunman got in and then ordered the driver to drive around. When they reached Hanna Street near 54th Street, the gunman took the driver's cell phone and wallet and then ordered him out of the car before he sped off in it.

The SUV is a gray Jeep Grand Cherokee and the carjacker was described as a black man, about 30 years old. He was last seen wearing a black jacket and blue pants, according to San Diego police.
